Sitemap Management

What is a Sitemap?

A sitemap is a blueprint of your website that helps search engines find, crawl and index all of your website content.

Managing your Sitemap

Log into /admin and head to the sitemap page below:

  1. Generate Sitemap – This button will crawl your website and auto-generate a sitemap. Once finished, it will update the content box to show the new XML sitemap
  2. Download - This button allows you to download the XML sitemap. Typically this will be used by SEO companies for when they want to specially modify certain areas of the sitemap
  3. Save - Once a sitemap is generated, remember to click the green 'save' button. This will overwrite the existing XML sitemap
Search engines can take time to re-crawl your site, so you may not see changes immediately.

Requesting a Fresh Crawl with Google

If you have an SEO company managing your Google account, you may need to contact them regarding this.

You can force Google to crawl your site using the Google Search Console.

Log into Google Search Console - https://search.google.com/search-console/about
Select your site from the dropdown in the top-left of the screen.

Please contact Roeville or your SEO company if you don't see your website on the list.

Enter the URL of the sitemap. By default this will be sitemap.xml. The website you have selected will automatically populate before the input, so you only need to put the filename of the sitemap
Click 'SUBMIT' and allow time for Google to receive the request.

If successful you will see this message and the information within the table will update:

Google will inform you of any errors and will provide details on how to solve these.
