WebRes pre-requisites

Prerequisites for WebRes connections

Before WebRes can be configured to connect to your Tour Booking System (t3/t4), your Windows server will need to have the actions below carried out.
Currently, we only support Windows 11 Professional/Windows Server 2012R2 or newer.

If this is to be installed on a Windows Server environment then we do recommend that you pass this information onto whoever manages your IT as they should be familiar with setting this up.

Step 1 - Install .NET 4.7 or above

Windows .NET can be downloaded and installed from Microsoft Download centre by clicking on the link below:

Step 2- Install IIS

Internet Information Services (IIS) is a flexible, secure and manageable Web server for hosting anything on the Web. From media streaming to web applications, IIS's scalable and open architecture is ready to handle the most demanding tasks.

To install IIS on Windows 11 Professional, you will first need to go into Programs and Features. To get here you will need to press the Windows + R key combination on your keyboard. This will open the Run Command Box. In here you need to type appwiz.cpl into the space provided and then click on the ok button.

This will then open up the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel. In here, you will find a link on the left-hand side that has a shield icon and the text 'Turn Windows feature on or off'.

Clicking on this will then open up the Windows Features, where we will now be able to select the Internet Information Services Option.

Once you have selected your required components, click on the ok button and then Windows will start applying the changes and download the files required if necessary.

The following must be checked under Internet Information Services World Wide Web Services Application Development Features:

a. .NET Extensibility 3.5
b. .NET Extensibility 4.7 or above
c. ASP
d. ASP .NET 3.5
e. ASP .NET 4.7 or above
f. ISAPI Extensions
g. ISAPI Filters

4. Information Services World Wide Web Services Performance Features

a. Dynamic Content Compression

b. Static Content Compression

5. We will need access to both the New Server (or workstation running as the server) and Old Server (or workstation running as the server) which can be via either TeamViewer or Microsoft Remote Desktop.

A copy of TeamViewer can be downloaded directly from our Remote Support page by clicking on the link below:

A Firewall rule will need to be set up or updated that will allow communication from our Web Servers to redirected to the Server (or workstation running as the server). We will discuss this further with your IT Team closer to the install date.

Once these have been installed. All Windows updates must be run so subsequent fixes are applied to the above.

Once all the Windows updates have been installed, we can then proceed to set up our services and also install/migrate our Roeville Products.

After the install/migration has taken place, someone will need to process a live card payment/refund in t3/t4 and also make a live booking on the website to test that all card facilities are working correctly.
